For where to stay in Da Nang, most visitors should pick My Khe Beach near the An Thuong streets, where the sand is a 2 to 5 minute walk and the airport is 15 to 20 minutes away.
Pick the Han River centre for a short, food-focused stay. Choose Non Nuoc for a big resort halfway to Hoi An, or Son Tra for secluded luxury. If you mostly want lanterns and old streets, base yourself in Hoi An and treat Da Nang as a day trip.
Key Takeaways
– My Khe and An Thuong suit most first-time visitors.
– Han River is best for one or two nights and local food.
– Non Nuoc resorts sit about 20 to 30 minutes from Hoi An.

Where to stay in Da Nang: areas at a glance
Beach base
Best for first visits, couples and families
My Khe and An Thuong
Long city beach with a walkable grid of cafes, bars and small hotels behind it.
My Khe is the long, straight city beach that runs along Vo Nguyen Giap street on the east side of the Han River. The An Thuong grid, a few blocks of streets just behind the beach, packs in small hotels, cafes, bakeries and bars aimed at foreign visitors. From here the sand is a two to five minute walk, the Dragon Bridge is about 10 minutes by Grab, and the airport is around 15 to 20 minutes away. It suits first-time visitors, couples, families and anyone who wants a swim before breakfast. The trade-off is that the beachfront road is busy and new towers keep going up, so some sea-view rooms look over building sites. If you want old-town character or real quiet, this is not the area for you.
City base
Best for short stays, food and nightlife
Han River and city centre
The working heart of the city, with markets, the Dragon Bridge and riverfront hotels.
The Han River area is the city centre: the west bank around Bach Dang street in Hai Chau district, plus the riverfront facing it on the east side. Han Market, Con Market, the Cham Museum and most local restaurants sit within a 5 to 15 minute walk, and the airport is about 10 to 20 minutes away. My Khe Beach is a 10 minute Grab ride across the bridges. It suits stays of one or two nights, food-focused travellers and anyone using Da Nang as a stop between Hue and Hoi An. The downside is that it feels like a working city, with traffic noise and no beach outside the door. Rooms with views of the lit-up bridges are the main reason to pay more here.
Nature retreat
Best for honeymoons and quiet luxury
Son Tra Peninsula
Forested peninsula north of the bay with very few, high-end places to stay.
Son Tra is the forested peninsula that closes off the north end of Da Nang's bay. Most of it is protected forest, home to red-shanked douc langurs, with a winding road up to viewpoints and the Linh Ung Pagoda with its tall Lady Buddha statue. Places to stay on the peninsula itself are very limited and mostly high end, set in private coves. The city centre is about 20 to 30 minutes by car, and you will need a taxi or the resort shuttle for every outing. It suits honeymooners and travellers who want a self-contained resort with nature around them. It does not suit budget travellers, people who like to walk out for street food, or anyone planning lots of day trips.
Resort strip
Best for families and splitting time with Hoi An
Non Nuoc and Marble Mountains
Southern beach strip of large gated resorts between Da Nang and Hoi An.
Non Nuoc is the southern stretch of beach along Truong Sa road in Ngu Hanh Son district, close to the Marble Mountains. It is lined with large, gated resorts with wide beach frontage, gardens and big pools. The Marble Mountains are about 5 to 10 minutes away, Hoi An is roughly 20 to 30 minutes by car, and the Han River centre is about 20 minutes. That middle position is the main appeal: you can do both cities as day trips without changing hotels. It suits families, resort-first holidays and travellers splitting time between Da Nang and Hoi An. The catch is that there is little to walk to outside the resort gates, so meals out and evenings need a taxi, and resort restaurant bills add up.
Is My Khe and An Thuong the best area for a beach stay?

Swimming is best from roughly March to August, when the sea is usually calm. From October to December, waves can be rough and red flags are common, so check the lifeguard signs before going in.
Budget: Sala Danang Beach Hotel
Sala Danang Beach Hotel is on Lam Hoanh street in Son Tra, a short walk from My Khe Beach (listings give anything from 3 to 19 minutes). It has an outdoor pool, free bikes and free private parking. It suits travellers who want a pool and easy beach access without staying on the beachfront road itself.
Budget guesthouses and hostels fill the side streets behind the beach, and the live prices on the buttons are the quickest way to compare them.
Mid-range: Four Points by Sheraton Danang
Four Points by Sheraton Danang is our top choice for most people. It sits steps from My Khe Beach at 118-120 Vo Nguyen Giap, with a rooftop pool and bar, an all-day restaurant and a spa. You get a known international brand and an easy ride to the An Thuong restaurants.
Mid-range: A La Carte Da Nang Beach
A La Carte Da Nang Beach is a 24-floor, all-suite hotel across the road from the beach at 200 Vo Nguyen Giap, a little north of the An Thuong area. Rooms have kitchenettes, which suits families and longer stays. The rooftop infinity pool is the main draw.
Luxury: Pullman Danang Beach Resort
Pullman Danang Beach Resort, at 101 Vo Nguyen Giap, is a beachfront resort with gardens, a large pool and its own stretch of sand. It is next door to Furama and about 15 minutes by car from the city centre. It suits couples and families who want a resort without leaving the city.
Luxury: Furama Resort Danang
Furama Resort Danang, at 103-105 Vo Nguyen Giap, is one of the city’s older beach resorts. It is spread across landscaped grounds with freshwater pools and direct beach frontage. It is a sensible pick for families who want space and a calm setting while staying within easy reach of the centre.
For a nearby day out, the Marble Mountains are about 10 to 15 minutes south by Grab.
Why stay by the Han River and city centre?

The Dragon Bridge breathes fire and water at 9 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and on public holidays, according to the official show page on Da Nang Fantasticity. Staying on the river means you can watch from the bank without fighting for a taxi afterwards.
Budget options by the river
Budget hotels and hostels cluster in the streets behind Bach Dang and around Han Market. Most are simple, clean and well placed for street food. Look for places one or two blocks back from the river, which are usually quieter than riverfront buildings.
Mid-range: Brilliant Hotel Danang
Brilliant Hotel Danang stands at 162 Bach Dang street, on the Han River and a short ride from Han Market and the Dragon Bridge. It suits travellers who want a central, no-fuss base for a short city stay.
Upper mid-range: Novotel Danang Premier Han River
Novotel Danang Premier Han River is a high-rise tower on Bach Dang with river and city views from many rooms. The location is very central, and it has a rooftop pool. It is a good pick for couples and business travellers.
Luxury: Hilton Da Nang
Hilton Da Nang sits at 50 Bach Dang, facing the river and close to the Dragon Bridge. It is one of the more established luxury options on the riverfront, with an outdoor pool and bar. It suits travellers who want a luxury hotel in the city, with markets and restaurants a short walk away.
Is the Son Tra Peninsula worth staying on?
Son Tra is the forested peninsula that closes off the north end of Da Nang’s bay.
Many visitors stay in My Khe and visit Son Tra by Grab or motorbike for half a day instead. That gives you the viewpoints and the pagoda without paying peninsula prices for every night.
Luxury: InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort
InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is the main reason people stay on Son Tra. It is built on a hillside above its own bay, with the Nam Tram funicular down to the beach and several restaurants on site. It suits special trips where the resort is the holiday. Budget and mid-range travellers should stay in My Khe instead.
Should you stay in Non Nuoc near the Marble Mountains?
Read our Marble Mountains guide if you plan to climb the caves early in the morning, which is easiest from this area.
Mid-range: Melia Danang Beach Resort
Melia Danang Beach Resort, at 19 Truong Sa, sits on Non Nuoc Beach with a large outdoor pool, a spa, a kids’ club and its own beach area. Hoi An old town is about 20 minutes away by car. It suits families who want beach access and a big pool.
Luxury: Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa
Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa, at 5 Truong Sa, is a beachside resort with an outdoor pool, a day spa and several in-house restaurants. It is about 5 minutes by car from the Marble Mountains and within easy reach of Hoi An for a day or evening. It suits families and resort-first stays.
Luxury: Sheraton Grand Danang Beach Resort & Spa
Sheraton Grand Danang Beach Resort & Spa, at 35 Truong Sa, sits on Non Nuoc Beach, with a long infinity pool that runs down to the sand. It suits travellers who want a large international resort with big event and dining space. Hoi An is a short drive away.
Luxury: Naman Retreat
Naman Retreat, on Truong Sa road, is a villa-based beach resort between Da Nang and Hoi An, near the Marble Mountains and Non Nuoc Beach. It has a pool, a private beach, private yoga and Reiki, and a free shuttle to Hoi An. Reviewers say it is not within walking distance of shops or restaurants, so a car or Grab is needed. It suits couples who want a quiet, wellness-focused stay.
Should you stay in Hoi An instead of Da Nang?
Hoi An is about 30 km south of Da Nang, and its Ancient Town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 (UNESCO). If lanterns, tailors and old streets are the reason for your trip, staying in Hoi An makes more sense than commuting from Da Nang every evening.
Da Nang is the better base if you want a city beach, a bigger choice of restaurants and short airport transfers. Hoi An is better for slow evenings, walking and cycling. A common split is two nights in Da Nang and two or three in Hoi An. Our Hoi An to Da Nang guide covers the transfer, which takes about 40 to 50 minutes by car.
For Hoi An hotels, see our pick of Hoi An Old Town hotels and Hoi An beach resorts. Two luxury options are Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, on Ha My Beach between the two cities, and Anantara Hoi An Resort, on the Thu Bon river near the edge of the old town.
Plan your stay in Da Nang
Getting there. Da Nang International Airport (DAD) has direct domestic flights from Saigon and Hanoi, plus regional international routes. Flights from Saigon take about 1 hour 20 minutes; see our Saigon to Da Nang guide for flight and train options. The Reunification Express train also stops at Da Nang station, close to the city centre.
Airport transfer. Because the airport sits inside the city, transfers are short. Expect about 10 minutes to the Han River, 15 to 20 minutes to My Khe, 20 to 25 minutes to Non Nuoc and around 45 minutes to Hoi An. Grab cars and metered taxis wait outside arrivals. A Grab from the airport to the centre or My Khe is about 80,000 to 150,000 VND (roughly USD 3 to 6), per the Vietnam Tourism guide. Fares move with demand, so check the in-app quote. Many resorts also offer paid pick-ups.
Getting around. Grab (cars and motorbikes) is the easiest way to move between areas, and fares within the city are low. Renting a motorbike is popular for Son Tra and the Hai Van Pass, but only if you hold the right licence and are confident in traffic. Walking works well within An Thuong and along the river, less so in Non Nuoc.
When prices peak. Demand is usually highest from June to August, when Vietnamese families take summer holidays, and around Tet (late January or February). The 2026 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival ran from 30 May to 11 July, with fireworks from about 8 pm, according to Tuoi Tre News. Riverfront rooms fill up on festival nights. September to December is the rainy season, with storms most likely in October and November, so rates drop but beach days are less reliable. Check our Vietnam weather by month guide before you book.
Booking tip. Book riverfront rooms early for fireworks nights and summer weekends. For the rest of the year, a week or two ahead is usually enough outside Tet.
