The best resorts in Vietnam start with Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, on Ha My Beach about 30 minutes from Da Nang airport, with pool villas of 1 to 5 bedrooms and a free kids’ club for ages 4 to 12. For a remote villa stay, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay and Amanoi lead the Nha Trang coast.

Phu Quoc has the most choice, led by Regent Phu Quoc. Inland, Topas Ecolodge near Sapa stands out. This guide covers 20 resorts in nine regions, with the trade-offs of each.

Places at a glance

Island resorts in the far south

Best for a long beach stay with direct flights

Phu Quoc

Vietnam's largest island, with the widest choice of beach resorts and the driest weather from December to April.

Phu Quoc has more beach resorts than anywhere else in Vietnam, a short flight from Saigon. Long Beach, 10 to 20 minutes from the airport, has the most choice. The south, around Khem Beach and Ong Doi Cape, is quieter and more upscale but 25 to 40 minutes away. The trade-off is that resorts are spread out, so you need taxis to reach town. Choose it for four nights or more from December to April.

City beach and old town in one trip

Best for first trips and families

Da Nang and Hoi An

The central coast's main resort strip, from the Son Tra peninsula south to Ha My Beach near Hoi An.

The coast from Da Nang to Hoi An is the easiest mix of beach and sightseeing in Vietnam. The airport is inside Da Nang, so most resorts are 15 to 40 minutes away. Son Tra, north of the city, has the most dramatic setting; Non Nuoc and Ha My, to the south, sit between Da Nang and Hoi An's old town. The trade-off is weather: September to December is wet, with the highest typhoon risk in October.

Bays, islands and spa resorts

Best for villas and wellness stays

Nha Trang and Cam Ranh

The Khanh Hoa coast, from the bays north of Nha Trang to the Cam Ranh resort strip and Vinh Hy Bay further south.

Khanh Hoa province holds several of Vietnam's top resorts. Most sit on the strip near Cam Ranh airport, 15 to 30 minutes away; others hide in bays reached by boat or a long drive. Nha Trang city is 30 to 50 minutes from the Cam Ranh resorts, so these are places to stay put. Since July 2025 the former Ninh Thuan province, home to Amanoi, is part of Khanh Hoa. Avoid October to December, the wettest months.

Quiet coves on the south-central coast

Best for couples who want few crowds

Quy Nhon and Phu Yen

A less visited stretch of coast between Quy Nhon and Tuy Hoa, with a handful of villa resorts.

Quy Nhon and the Phu Yen coast to its south see far fewer foreign visitors than Da Nang or Nha Trang. Resorts here are small villa properties in private coves, with mountains behind. Phu Cat airport serves Quy Nhon and Tuy Hoa airport serves Phu Yen. The trade-off is fewer flights and few restaurants outside the resorts. Choose this coast for a honeymoon or a slow week by the sea.

Remote island and marine park

Best for a quiet island escape

Con Dao

A small archipelago off the south coast, reached by short flights from Saigon, with protected waters and few hotels.

Con Dao is a group of islands off the south coast, now administered by Ho Chi Minh City. Much of it is national park, and the main island has one small town. The airport is a few kilometres from the resort beaches. The trade-off is limited choice: few international resorts, flights that fill early and little nightlife. Choose Con Dao for a quiet, nature-focused stay of three nights or more.

Drive-to beaches near Saigon

Best for a short beach break from Saigon

Mui Ne and Ke Ga

The coast around Phan Thiet, with sand dunes, kitesurfing and resorts a few hours by road from Saigon.

Mui Ne and Ke Ga are the closest resort beaches to Saigon, about 2.5 hours by car on the expressway, or four hours and more by bus. Mui Ne is the busier strip, known for kitesurfing and sand dunes; Ke Ga, 45 minutes south of Phan Thiet, is quieter. The trade-off is that there are no passenger flights yet, as Phan Thiet's civil airport only began construction in April 2026. Choose it for a two to four night break.

Limestone peaks and rice fields

Best for a countryside break from Hanoi

Ninh Binh

A karst landscape about two hours south of Hanoi, with boat trips at Trang An, Tam Coc and Van Long.

Ninh Binh is about two hours by road south of Hanoi. Its resorts sit among limestone peaks and rice fields, close to the boat trips at Trang An, Tam Coc and Van Long. There is no beach, so a resort here is about pools, bikes and views. Summers are hot and humid, and winters can be grey and cool. Choose Ninh Binh for two or three nights instead of a rushed day trip from Hanoi.

Mountain lodges above rice terraces

Best for trekking and cool air

Sapa

A hill town near the Chinese border, with rice terraces, trekking and a handful of mountain resorts.

Sapa is a mountain town in the far north, about 5 to 7 hours from Hanoi by road. Its resorts are either in town, close to restaurants and trekking routes, or out in the valleys with terrace views and little else nearby. January and February are the coldest months and can bring frost. The trade-off is the long transfer and rough roads to the remote lodges. Choose Sapa for two or three nights of trekking.

Island resort or overnight cruise

Best for families who want the bay without a cruise

Ha Long Bay

The limestone bay east of Hanoi, where most visitors sleep on a cruise boat and few resorts face the water.

Ha Long Bay is about 2.5 to 3.5 hours east of Hanoi by road. Most visitors sleep on an overnight cruise, and the resort choice on land is small. Bai Chay, the main tourist area, has city hotels and one large island resort. The trade-off is that the bay views come with a busy tourist town nearby. Choose a resort here for a family stay with a day cruise, and a cruise if the bay itself is the point.

Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc has more beach resorts than anywhere else in Vietnam, a short flight from Saigon. Long Beach, 10 to 20 minutes from the airport, has the most choice. Choose it for four nights or more from December to April. For more choice on the island, see our best hotels in Phu Quoc guide.

Phu Quoc, Vietnam: AI illustration of the area

Regent Phu Quoc

A beachfront resort on Long Beach (Bai Truong), about 15 minutes from the airport, with suites, villas, several pools, a spa and four bars and restaurants. Why this one: it is the top-end choice on the island’s main beach, and early 2026 reviews praise the service. The trade-off is price, and dinner in Duong Dong, the main town, means a taxi.

JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa

A resort on Khem Beach near An Thoi, designed by Bill Bensley around the theme of an imaginary old university, with three beachfront pools. Why this one: the design is unlike anything else in Vietnam, and Gourmet Traveller named it a family pick in January 2026. The trade-off is the long taxi ride north to Duong Dong’s night market.

Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort

An all-villa resort managed by Accor on Ong Doi Cape, the island’s southern tip. Every villa has a private pool and a kitchen, and there is a Kids Club. Why this one: it is the easiest way to get a pool villa with space for a family or group. The airport is about 30 minutes away, so plan on resort dining.

Da Nang and Hoi An

The coast from Da Nang to Hoi An is the easiest mix of beach and sightseeing in Vietnam. The airport is inside Da Nang, so most resorts are 15 to 40 minutes away. Son Tra, north of the city, has the most dramatic setting; Non Nuoc and Ha My, to the south, sit between Da Nang and Hoi An’s old town. The trade-off is weather: September to December is wet, with the highest typhoon risk in October. Our where to stay in Da Nang and best hotels in Hoi An guides cover the city and old town options.

Da Nang and Hoi An, Vietnam: AI illustration of the area

Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai

A villa resort on about a kilometre of Ha My Beach, about 30 minutes from Da Nang airport, with family villas and pool villas of one to five bedrooms. The Chuon Chuon Kids’ Club is free for ages 4 to 12. Why this one: it is our top choice because it works for couples and families, and Hoi An’s old town is a short drive. You cannot walk anywhere outside the resort.

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort

A Bill Bensley resort built down a hillside on the Son Tra peninsula, above its own bay, with a funicular linking four levels and La Maison 1888 among its restaurants. Why this one: the setting and design suit a special occasion. The trade-off is the steep site, and Gourmet Traveller puts it about 40 minutes by car from the airport.

Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa

A large resort on 49 acres of Non Nuoc Beach with 199 rooms, 146 residences, 23 villas and five pools, per a March 2026 release. Camp Hyatt, its kids’ club for ages 4 to 12, covers about 3,655 m2. Why this one: it is the best family pick on this coast. Earlier reports gave two free kids’ club hours a day, so confirm current terms.

Nha Trang and Cam Ranh

Khanh Hoa province holds several of Vietnam’s top resorts.

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay

A villa resort on a bay north of Nha Trang, reached only by a 20-minute speedboat after an hour’s drive from Cam Ranh airport. Its 58 to 62 villas (sources differ) all have private pools, according to its Booking.com listing. Why this one: it is the classic honeymoon resort, ranked first among Vietnam’s resorts with pools in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards 2026. Transfers cost extra.

JW Marriott Cam Ranh Bay Resort & Spa

A beachfront resort on the Cam Ranh strip, 15 minutes from the airport according to the hotel, or 20 to 30 minutes according to a June 2026 trade report. Why this one: arrival is quick, and it ranked third among Vietnam’s beach and island resorts in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards 2026. Nha Trang city is 30 to 50 minutes away.

Fusion Resort Cam Ranh

A beach resort on a 28-metre sand dune above Cam Ranh Bay, where spa treatments are included in the rate and breakfast is served anywhere, at any time. There are kids’ activities and pool villas of up to four bedrooms. Why this one: it is the best value Cam Ranh resort once you count the spa. Listings disagree on the walk to the sand.

Amanoi

A resort inside Nui Chua National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, above Vinh Hy Bay, with pavilions and villas, many with pools, and a private beach. Why this one: it is the most secluded luxury stay in Vietnam, with a clifftop pool and a lakeside spa. The trade-off is the transfer, about 75 minutes by car from Cam Ranh airport.

Quy Nhon and Phu Yen

Quy Nhon and the Phu Yen coast to its south see far fewer foreign visitors than Da Nang or Nha Trang. Resorts here are small villa properties in private coves, with mountains behind. Phu Cat airport serves Quy Nhon and Tuy Hoa airport serves Phu Yen. The trade-off is fewer flights and few restaurants outside the resorts. Choose this coast for a honeymoon or a slow week by the sea.

Anantara Quy Nhon Villas

An all-villa resort on seven acres facing a private cove, with mountains on three sides. Every villa has a private pool, and there is a cliffside spa. Anantara lists 25 villas; older press says 26. Why this one: it is small and quiet, a strong couples’ pick with positive early 2026 reviews. There is little to eat outside the resort.

Zannier Bai San Ho

A resort of 73 villas on a coral bay in the former Phu Yen province, now part of Dak Lak, with plunge pools in the hill and beach villas and three restaurants. Why this one: it is the most nature-led resort on this list, with snorkelling in a private bay. Phu Cat (Quy Nhon) and Tuy Hoa airports are each about an hour away.

Con Dao

Con Dao is a group of islands off the south coast, now administered by Ho Chi Minh City. Much of it is national park, and the main island has one small town. The airport is a few kilometres from the resort beaches. The trade-off is limited choice: few international resorts, flights that fill early and little nightlife. Choose Con Dao for a quiet, nature-focused stay of three nights or more.

Six Senses Con Dao

A resort of 50 pool villas on Dat Doc Beach, a long beach with hills behind, about 10 to 15 minutes by car from the airport. Most villas have one bedroom, and 15 have three or four. Why this one: it is the island’s leading resort, with positive early 2026 reviews, and suits couples and families who want space. There are few other places to eat.

Mui Ne and Ke Ga

Mui Ne and Ke Ga are the closest resort beaches to Saigon, about 2.5 hours by car on the expressway, or four hours and more by bus. Mui Ne is the busier strip, known for kitesurfing and sand dunes; Ke Ga, 45 minutes south of Phan Thiet, is quieter. The trade-off is that there are no passenger flights yet, as Phan Thiet’s civil airport only began construction in April 2026. Choose it for a two to four night break.

Anantara Mui Ne Resort

A beachfront resort on the Mui Ne strip with 89 rooms, suites and villas, including 19 private pool villas, plus a beachfront infinity pool and a children’s pool. Why this one: it is the most established high-end resort in Mui Ne, about 20 minutes from the Red Sand Dunes. It opened in 2006 and was refurbished in 2024, so expect classic rather than new.

Azerai Ke Ga Bay

An all-suites-and-villas resort on 4.5 hectares of gardens beside a long beach at Ke Ga, about 2.5 hours from Saigon. It has four pools, and some villas have plunge pools. Why this one: it is a quiet, design-led stay, ranked in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia-Pacific 2026. There is little nearby, so plan to eat most meals at the resort.

Ninh Binh

Ninh Binh is about two hours by road south of Hanoi. Its resorts sit among limestone peaks and rice fields, close to the boat trips at Trang An, Tam Coc and Van Long. There is no beach, so a resort here is about pools, bikes and views. Summers are hot and humid, and winters can be grey and cool. Choose Ninh Binh for two or three nights instead of a rushed day trip from Hanoi. Our Ninh Binh where to stay guide covers hotels in town too.

Emeralda Resort Ninh Binh

A 4-star resort built like a northern village at the edge of Van Long Nature Reserve, about two hours from Hanoi and 15 minutes from Ninh Binh town. It has 172 rooms, a heated indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a spa, mini golf and a kids’ club. Why this one: it is the best value resort on this list. One family review mentions motor noise at night.

Tam Coc Garden Resort

A small bungalow resort in Hai Nham hamlet near Tam Coc, facing rice fields and limestone peaks, with a pool, a spa, free bikes and one room type with a private open-air onsen bath. Why this one: the views and quiet are the best in Ninh Binh, and early 2026 reviews praise the gardens. An August 2026 date was listed from about USD 255 a night.

Sapa

Sapa is a mountain town in the far north, about 5 to 7 hours from Hanoi by road. Its resorts are either in town, close to restaurants and trekking routes, or out in the valleys with terrace views and little else nearby. January and February are the coldest months and can bring frost. The trade-off is the long transfer and rough roads to the remote lodges. Choose Sapa for two or three nights of trekking. See our Sapa hotels guide for more options in town.

Topas Ecolodge

A lodge of standalone bungalows and pool villas on a ridge about 18 km, or 45 minutes, from Sapa town, with a heated infinity pool and a spa. It won an ASEAN Green Hotel award in January 2026. Why this one: the valley views are the best of any resort in the north, and treks start at the lodge. The last stretch of road is rough.

Silk Path Grand Sapa Resort & Spa

A 152-room resort in Sapa town, about five minutes by car from the stone church, with a heated pool and a spa. Why this one: it gives you resort comforts with restaurants and trekking routes close by, and 2026 reviews are strong. It is a large town property rather than a valley lodge, and some guests find the pool not warm enough.

Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay is about 2.5 to 3.5 hours east of Hanoi by road. Most visitors sleep on an overnight cruise, and the resort choice on land is small. Bai Chay, the main tourist area, has city hotels and one large island resort. The trade-off is that the bay views come with a busy tourist town nearby. Choose a resort here for a family stay with a day cruise, and a cruise if the bay itself is the point. See our best Ha Long Bay cruises guide.

Vinpearl Resort & Spa Ha Long

A 384-room resort on Reu Island, just off Bai Chay, reached by shuttle boats that run around the clock about every 30 minutes. It has indoor and outdoor pools, a resort beach and a kids’ club. Why this one: it gives families the bay on their doorstep without a cruise, and reviews through October 2026 are positive. Breakfast costs extra on some rates.

How to choose a resort in Vietnam

Start with the season, then the region. The weather differs a lot from north to south, so a resort that is perfect in March may be wet in October.

Region Best for Price band Transfer from the nearest airport or city
Phu Quoc Long beach stays Luxury 10 to 40 min from Phu Quoc airport
Da Nang and Hoi An First trips, families Luxury 15 to 40 min from Da Nang airport
Nha Trang and Cam Ranh Villas, wellness Upper mid-range to luxury 15 min to 1 hr 20 min from Cam Ranh airport
Quy Nhon and Phu Yen Couples, few crowds Luxury About 1 hr from Phu Cat or Tuy Hoa airports
Con Dao Island escape Luxury A few minutes from Con Dao airport
Mui Ne and Ke Ga Break from Saigon Upper mid-range to luxury About 2.5 hr by car from Saigon
Ninh Binh Countryside, value Mid-range to upper mid-range About 2 hr by car from Hanoi
Sapa Mountains, trekking Mid-range to luxury 5 to 7 hr by road from Hanoi
Ha Long Bay Bay views, families Mid-range 2.5 to 3.5 hr by road from Hanoi

By season. The south, including Phu Quoc, Con Dao and Mui Ne, is dry from about November to April. The central coast, from Da Nang to Nha Trang, is mostly dry from January to August and wet from September to December, with the highest typhoon risk in October. The north has four seasons: Sapa can see frost in January and February, and summers in Ninh Binh and Ha Long are hot and humid. Check our Vietnam weather by month guide before you pick dates.

By trip. For one beach stop on a first trip, Da Nang and Hoi An is the easiest; for a week of pure beach, choose Phu Quoc or Cam Ranh. Our best beaches in Vietnam guide compares the sand itself.

Plan your stay

Getting there. Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Quy Nhon (Phu Cat), Tuy Hoa and Con Dao all have airports with domestic flights. Mui Ne has no passenger airport yet, so most people drive from Saigon. For the north, our Hanoi to Sapa, Hanoi to Ninh Binh and Hanoi to Ha Long Bay guides cover buses, trains and transfers. Our Phu Quoc from Saigon guide covers the island.

Transfers. Remote resorts often price transfers separately; at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay they are not included in room rates. Ask for the price before you book, or compare with a Grab car where one is available.

When prices peak. Rates rise sharply over Tet, in late January or February, and over the 30 April and 2 September holidays, when Vietnamese families travel. Some resorts also add compulsory gala dinners on holiday nights, so read the rate terms. In the south, December to February is the busiest season; on the central coast, demand peaks from June to August.

Addresses. On 1 July 2025, Vietnam merged its provinces from 63 to 34. Quang Nam is now part of Da Nang, Ninh Thuan is part of Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan is part of Lam Dong, Binh Dinh is part of Gia Lai, Phu Yen is part of Dak Lak, and Con Dao is part of Ho Chi Minh City. Booking sites may show either the old or new name, so search by resort name.

Combining stops. Pair Hanoi with Ninh Binh or Sapa, then end at a beach resort; our 2 weeks in Vietnam itinerary shows how.
