Where to stay in Phu Quoc: areas at a glance

Resorts closest to the airport

Best for short resort stays and value family picks

Long Beach and Duong To

The central and northern stretch of Long Beach, between Duong Dong and the airport, with mid-range resorts on the sand.

Long Beach, or Bai Truong, is the island's main resort coast, and this central stretch in Duong To commune sits between Duong Dong and the airport. A taxi from the airport takes 10 to 20 minutes, the shortest ride of any resort area. A July 2026 beach guide describes fine sand with a gentle slope and calm water in the dry season, with murkier water near the Duong Dong river mouth when it rains. Sunsets face the sea. The trade-off is a busy main road behind the resorts and a beach that feels less private than the coves further north or south. Choose this stretch for a resort stay of two to four nights. Skip it if a quiet private beach matters most.

The big-resort end of Long Beach

Best for families and full-service luxury

Bai Truong south

The quieter southern end of Long Beach, where the largest international resorts sit side by side.

The southern end of Long Beach, still in Duong To, is where the island's biggest international resorts sit side by side: InterContinental, Regent and the Sonasea area with Novotel. The airport is about 15 minutes away, and Duong Dong town about 20 minutes. This end is quieter than the central strip, and the resorts here have the most facilities on the island: kids clubs, several pools, spas and many restaurants. The trade-off is that there is little outside the resort gates, so most meals out mean a taxi. Choose Bai Truong south for a family trip or a luxury stay of three nights or more. Skip it if you want to walk to local restaurants.

Quiet coves on the northwest coast

Best for couples and slow stays

Ong Lang

Small bays north of Duong Dong with boutique resorts, villas and one large Movenpick resort.

Ong Lang is a string of small bays on the northwest coast, north of Duong Dong. Taxi times from the airport run 25 to 35 minutes in one guide, while Movenpick puts its Ong Lang resort about 40 minutes away. A July 2026 beach guide describes golden sand, rocky outcrops that form coves, and clearer water than the busier west-coast beaches, but warns that July to September monsoon waves can make swimming risky. Resorts are low-rise and set among trees. The trade-off is that there is little to walk to, and some access roads are rough. Choose Ong Lang for couples and stays of four nights or more. Skip it for a two-night trip or if you want nightlife.

Remote north resort coast

Best for families who stay at one resort

Bai Dai and Ganh Dau

The long northern beach in Ganh Dau commune, with large resorts close to VinWonders and the Safari.

Bai Dai is the long beach in the north of the island, in Ganh Dau commune. A taxi from the airport takes 45 to 60 minutes, so it is the most remote resort area. A July 2026 beach guide puts the beach at nearly 10 km, about 80% of it private to resorts, and sheltered for swimming in the dry season. VinWonders, the Vinpearl Safari and Grand World are close, and some resorts run free shuttles to them. The trade-off is the distance: Duong Dong and the south are a long ride. Choose Bai Dai for a family resort stay of three nights or more with a theme park day. Skip it if you want to explore the island every day.

White sand and pool villas

Best for honeymoons and private pool villas

The south: Khem, Sao and An Thoi

The southern tip, with white-sand Khem Beach, nearby Sao Beach, Ong Doi Cape and the Hon Thom cable car.

The south of the island has the whitest sand and the most private pool villas. A July 2026 beach guide describes Khem as a crescent of white sand with turquoise water and Sao Beach as soft white sand in a sheltered bay, and says the southeast coast is safer than the west coast in the rainy season. JW Marriott, New World and Premier Residences share Khem Beach, and Premier Village covers Ong Doi Cape. Sunset Town and the cable car at An Thoi are close. A taxi from the airport takes 25 to 40 minutes. The trade-off is a long ride to Duong Dong. Choose the south for a honeymoon or four nights or more. Skip it if you plan to eat in town most nights.

Long Beach and Duong To in Phu Quoc, Vietnam: AI illustration of the area

SOL by Melia Phu Quoc

A beachfront resort on Bai Truong, 5 to 10 minutes from the airport, with side-by-side adult and children’s pools and a free kids club. It suits families who want resort facilities at a mid-range price. Some rates are all-inclusive, with exceptions, so read what yours covers.

Salinda Resort Phu Quoc Island

A beachfront resort in Cua Lap hamlet, Duong To, about 4 km from the airport and listed in the Michelin Guide. It suits couples and short stays. 2026 guest reviews praise the staff, breakfast and gardens, while a few find the rooms slightly dated.

Bai Truong south: the big-resort end of Long Beach

The southern end of Long Beach, still in Duong To, is where the island’s biggest international resorts sit side by side: InterContinental, Regent and the Sonasea area with Novotel. The airport is about 15 minutes away, and Duong Dong town about 20 minutes. Bai Truong south in Phu Quoc, Vietnam: AI illustration of the area

InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort

A 459-room resort with residences, suites and villas, seven restaurants and bars, and the HARNN Heritage Spa. The Planet Trekkers kids club takes ages 4 to 12 from 9:00 to 18:00, according to the resort’s site. It is our top choice because one resort covers families, couples and short trips. The size means it rarely feels intimate.

Regent Phu Quoc

The top-end resort on Long Beach, about 15 minutes from the airport. Many suites and villas have private pools, and guest reviews from early 2026 mention a family pool and an adults-only rooftop infinity pool in the Regent Club area. It suits couples who want the highest service level on this coast.

Novotel Phu Quoc Resort

A 366-room resort in the Sonasea area of Duong Bao, Duong To, a few minutes’ walk from the beach. Some garden bungalows have a private pool. Listings show two outdoor pools, a free kids club and a children’s pool. It suits families who want a branded resort below luxury prices. Breakfast is not always included.

Ong Lang resorts on the northwest coast

Movenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc

A 5-star resort on Ong Lang beach with 305 rooms, a beach club and the Little Birds Club for children. Movenpick Villas & Residences Phu Quoc sits within the resort and shares its facilities, and its 2020 launch listed 79 pool villas. It suits families who want a full resort on a quieter coast.

Chen Sea Resort & Spa

A small villa resort in Ong Lang with 36 villas, some with private pools, and a large main pool beside the beach. It suits couples who want quiet, and a May 2026 review says it never feels crowded. Reviews mention a rough access road.

Mango Bay Resort

An eco resort with about 44 wooden bungalows among trees and the On The Rock restaurant for sunset. It suits couples who want nature over polish. A February 2026 review describes a bungalow with fans but no air conditioning, so check the room type before you book.

Bai Dai and Ganh Dau resorts in the north

Vinpearl Resort & Spa Phu Quoc

A large Vinpearl resort on Bai Dai with a pool of nearly 5,000 m2, a kids club and private pool villas of about 340 m2. A free shuttle runs to VinWonders, Grand World and the Safari; tickets cost extra. A June 2026 review notes the meal plan is full board without most drinks, and some rooms show their age.

Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc

A modern beachfront resort on Bai Dai with a kids club and sea-view suites. It is the clearest all-inclusive option we found: an add-on covers meals and a free-flow drinks window of about two hours a day. A June 2026 review puts rates from about USD 130 a night and calls the location remote.

Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay

A 308-room IHG resort on Bai Dai, opened in 2021, about 40 minutes from the airport, with a 50 m lap pool, a lagoon pool and a spa. A 2026 review says up to two children under 12 stay free and Grand World is about 5 minutes away. Guest reviews on booking sites are still few.

South Phu Quoc resorts: Khem, Sao and An Thoi

JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa

A beachfront resort on Khem Beach, designed by Bill Bensley around an imaginary old university. Listings show a free children’s club and a children’s pool. It suits couples and design fans. Guest comments on the sea water are mixed, so check recent photos.

New World Phu Quoc Resort

An all-villa resort on Khem Beach with 366 thatched villas of 125 to 415 m2, each with a private pool. There is a kids club and a kids’ pool with water slides, and a July 2026 guest review mentions a free shuttle to Sunset Town. It is our family pick for a private pool. Duong Dong is a long ride away.

Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort

An all-villa resort managed by Accor on Ong Doi Cape, with the sea on two sides. Every villa has a private pool and a kitchen, from one to four bedrooms, and there is a kids club with babysitting on request. A July 2026 article puts one-bedroom garden villas from about 3,200,000 VND a night on weekdays. It suits honeymoons and groups.

Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay

A large apartment-style resort on Khem Beach, about 25 minutes from the airport, with studios to family suites, tiered infinity pools and a free Kids Club. It is the lower-priced way to stay on Khem. The resort’s site says the water slide is being removed from 23 September 2026 and three pool zones are closed for maintenance, so ask what is open.

How to choose a Phu Quoc resort

Pick the area first. For two to four nights, stay on Long Beach, close to the airport. For four nights or more, the south or Ong Lang gives quieter beaches. Choose Bai Dai if you plan to stay put or visit the theme parks.

Match the beach to the month. The west coast is calmest in the dry season. In the rainy season, Khem and Sao in the southeast are more sheltered.

Read the rate. Only New World and Premier Village give every villa a pool. “All-inclusive” ranges from Radisson Blu’s add-on with drinks to Vinpearl’s full board without them.

Plan your stay

Airport transfer. Phu Quoc International Airport is just south of Duong Dong. A taxi to Long Beach takes 10 to 20 minutes, at about 150,000 to 250,000 VND, according to a guide updated in April 2026. Ong Lang and the south take 25 to 40 minutes, and Bai Dai 45 to 60 minutes. A July 2026 article puts the taxi to Khem Beach at about 250,000 to 350,000 VND. Many resorts run shuttles, sometimes for a fee.

When prices peak. The dry season runs from about December to April, and December to February is the busiest period, when villa resorts can sell out. Tet and the 30 April holiday also push prices up. May to October is the rainy season, with lower rates and rougher seas on the west coast. See our Vietnam weather by month guide.

Getting around. Taxis and Grab cover the island, but resort areas are far apart. If you plan to ride, read our motorbike rental guide first.

Addresses. Phu Quoc became a special zone of An Giang province on 1 July 2025, so booking sites may show either Kien Giang or An Giang.
